MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and a strong record of progressive academic upper administrative leadership experience in a college environment
Extensive expertise in program and curriculum development, assessment, program review and enhancement, continuous quality improvement processes, budget development, and fiscal management
Three years teaching experience at the post-secondary level
Creative, visionary leader who will inspire staff, students, and the community while promoting excellence and student success in and out of the classroom
Knowledge and experience with post-secondary accreditation
Proven team player in a fast-paced environment
Empathetic leader who displays positive regard for others
Highly ethical, trustworthy, credible, loyal, and respectful of diverse views and opinions
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
Innovative educator with a clear, focused commitment to modern teaching, learning and
academic outcomes
Proven experience of intentional integration with workforce development programming
Passion for and understanding of rural education
POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the President, the Vice President of Academics (VPA) provides visionary leadership and promotes academic excellence for the College. The VPA encourages creativity and ensures that the College offers an inclusive environment that celebrates and promotes understanding and respect within a diverse community of faculty, students, and staff. This position will collaborate with internal and external
stakeholders to create and implement a distinctive vision of affordable and accessible education that is nimble and enhances existing efforts. The VPA works closely with the President and members of the President’s Council to provide leadership in long-term planning, budgeting, and ongoing assessment of the College and its operations. The Vice President of Academics is responsible for oversight of the academic integrity of the College and supports innovation in curriculum and program development as well as methods of instruction and delivery that respond to a rapidly changing higher education environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Provide strong, dynamic leadership for all academic programs and work with the directors and faculty to:
Facilitate appropriate program development
Supervise annual systematic program review to ensure quality and best practice
Formulate, maintain, and implement high-quality curriculum
Ensure standards, degree programs, and graduation requirements are in accordance with the college’s identity, values, and mission
Provide visionary leadership of academic programs, policy, and administration resulting in sustained growth and longevity of the college
Establish and nurture a collaborative, innovative, and supportive culture within division and college-wide
Plan, develop, and manage the annual budget for the academic division of the college and approve division’s expenditures
Coordinate with the Academic Directors as appropriate to approve the hiring, professional development, and evaluation of faculty, staff, and administrators of academic programs and services
Encourage and support scholarly activities of the faculty
Serve as the Accreditation Liaison Officer with the following responsibilities:
Serve as the primary contact with MSCHE staff
Oversee the submission of the annual data submission, ensuring its timely and accurate completion
Ensure institutional compliance with all requests for written reports and additional information in a timely manner
Maintain and update institutional files of accreditation materials such as reports related to affirmation or reaffirmation of accreditation and correspondence with MSCHE
Serve as key resource person, ensure the timely and accurate submission of the Annual Institutional Update (AIU)
Serve as key resource person and coordinate the details of all accreditation-related visits by MSCHE staff and peer evaluators
Maintain working knowledge of standards of accreditation, requirements of affiliation, and internal and external policies, procedures, and guidelines
Update President’s Council, all college, and the Board of Trustees concerning policies and procedures associated with accreditation and related compliance requirements as well as opportunities for training
Shepard the coordination of accreditation self-studies
Coordinate substantive change request submissions
Advocate and promote quality instruction, student success, integrated planning, and the
expansion of Student Learning Outcomes to meet the educational needs of students in a diverse
community college environment
Collaborate with the Vice President of Finance and Operations in the effective and efficient use of
and planning for instructional locations and sites to best meet the growth of the College
Collaborate with the Vice President of Workforce Development to facilitate comprehensive and
intentional reciprocation and integration of workforce development and academic principals into
all learning opportunities as practicable
Collaborate with the Vice President of Enrollment and Student Services to create a supportive and effective student experience
Ensures the publication and regular revision of the Academic Catalog, Academic Calendar, and Academic Faculty Handbook in collaboration with other appropriate Divisions
Develop, implement, and revise academic policies of the institution
Serve as a member of President’s Council and other committees as needed
Work effectively with community groups, educational entities, business, industry, government, and legislative bodies to develop partnerships which result in improved service to students and to the
community
Maximize the use of technology in the instructional environment; encouraging faculty to be creative in their approach to interactive teaching
Represent the College at local, regional, and state meetings and conferences, make presentations at meetings, workshops and events as assigned
Provide leadership and support for shared governance

WORK SCHEDULE:
Office Location: Based on availability and College needs
Work hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Friday
This position requires work hour flexibility and varied hours, including evening and weekends
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires frequent travel
OTHER DUTIES:
Perform other duties as assigned
