Lead Data Engineer

Develop understanding of not just software development, but also how to design, develop and launch a product from concept to high customer use.

About the role:

As the Lead Data Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in our organization's data strategy. You will be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our data infrastructure, ensuring its scalability, reliability, and efficiency. You will lead a team of data engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the development of data-driven solutions that drive business growth and operational excellence.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Implement Application integration and data processes for the Data Warehouse and internal systems

Manage and update Data Engineering architecture

Implement processes for data accuracy and reconciliation

Design and implement ETL processes

Make data available through reporting platforms

Analyze data and communicate insights to stakeholders

Lead and mentor a team of data engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Provide technical guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.

Drive continuous learning and development within the team to stay abreast of emerging technologies and best practices.

Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines and infrastructure to support various data initiatives.

Ensure data quality, integrity, and security across all data pipelines and systems.

Architect and implement robust, scalable, and efficient data solutions using modern technologies and best practices.

Evaluate and recommend tools, technologies, and frameworks to enhance the data infrastructure and capabilities.

Ensure adherence to architectural principles, standards, and best practices.

Design and implement data models and schemas to support business requirements.

Optimize data storage, processing, and retrieval for performance and efficiency.

Implement monitoring and optimization strategies to improve the performance and scalability of data solutions.

Lead initiatives to deploy and manage cloud-based data solutions and distributed systems architecture to enhance data accessibility and fault tolerance.

Collaborate closely with stakeholders, including data scientists, analysts, and business leaders, to understand data needs and deliver effective solutions.

Skills and Qualifications:

At least 8 years of work experience, with 3 years in a similar role

Experience in data architecture, data quality, metadata management, ETL, analytics, reporting, and database administration

Strong computer science background and knowledge of software development methodologies

Excellent knowledge of SQL

Programming experience in a modern language

Establish policies and procedures for data governance and security, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and protecting sensitive information.

Good communication skills

Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.

Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Kafka, etc.

Excellent leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.

Experience with containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, etc.

Knowledge of machine learning and data science concepts.

Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, etc.

Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., AWS Certified Big Data - Specialty, Google Professional Data Engineer, etc.).
