Function:

The position of System Design Engineer will involve supporting Operations in the integration process through drafting infrastructure and shop/installation drawings, as well as addressing installation-related questions from the field. Engineering personnel report to the Director of Engineering.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Supports the Engineering and Operations Teams:

Attend design and project kick-off meetings, as well as other project-related meetings as necessary.

Draft infrastructure and installation documentation, including ground plans, floor plans, RCPs, sections/elevations, point-to-point/box schedules, wire pull schedules, single-line diagrams, schematics, etc.

Review bills of material for accuracy and release to Project Management for procurement.

Collaborate with lighting and rigging-specific engineers on construction drawings for interdisciplinary projects (AVLRD).

Review drawing packages drafted by other engineers as needed.

Respond to technical questions from the Operations team during installation and update installation documentation as needed according to installation schedules.

Supports The Clearwing Group:

Maintain relationships with vendors through meetings, education, and consistent communication.

Develop and maintain knowledge of current and new technologies the company offers.

Assist with the development and implementation of technical standards and processes.

Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to develop and maintain a consistent continuing education plan.

Qualifications

Skill/Experience Requirements:

Extensive knowledge of performance Audio/Video systems, including 5 years of design, installation, technical theatrical, or touring/production experience.

Proficiency in Autodesk AutoCAD or Autodesk REVIT.

In-depth knowledge of construction documentation, including floor plans, RCPs, building sections, schematics, and riser diagrams.

Understanding of bid processes and consultant specification documentation.

Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet or exceed project-driven deadlines.

Ability and desire to work in a team-oriented and interdisciplinary culture.

A mentality of constant process improvement.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Experience in SketchUp preferable but not necessary.

Skill/Experience Preferences (Continued):

Working knowledge of:

Audio system modeling programs such as EASE, Soundvision, ArrayCalc, MAPP 3D, and/or others.

Audio distribution utilizing QSC DSP, L-Acoustics, BSS, Symetrix, or similar.

Video distribution utilizing SDI, HDBaseT, and AV-Over-IP.

Control system design utilizing QSC, Extron, or similar.

Networking system topology.

Certifications:

AVIXA CTS/CTS-D/CTS-I preferable but not necessary.

Audinate Dante Level I or II preferable but not necessary.
