HR/Payroll Specialist

A Columbus wholesale and retail company which has served central Ohio for over 80 years is looking for a strong, independent professional to lead payroll and benefits administration for the company’s entire workforce.

Reports To: Ownership

POSITION SUMMARY

Process weekly payroll for 500+ employees using Paycor payroll software and Pendulum timekeeping software.

Verify weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports and filings for all statutory payments and deductions. (Tax payments as well as quarterly & annual tax returns prepared by Paycor)

Maintain new hire and termination information and verify all onboarding documents.

PTO calculations and maintenance.

Prevailing Wage reporting.

HIPPAA and COBRA administration, unemployment administration, DOL and other Census reporting.

Prevailing Wage reporting for certain construction contracts.

Employee 401K administration.

Workers Compensation reporting and assistance with programs (DFWP and Transitional work Program).

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Candidate must be highly organized, dependable, and meticulous with excellent communication skills with a solid comprehension of payroll regulations.

Knowledge of federal and state employment law.

Knowledge of employee benefits administration.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Microsoft Outlook).

Ability to interact with employees of all levels, safeguard confidential information and support a positive work atmosphere.

Ability to multi-task and amend priorities as other demands come into play on a daily basis.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent; Paycor experience preferred. Three to five years of previous experience processing employee payroll since they will be solely responsible for the payroll process.
