Job Summary:

The SPU (Suture Removals/Phones/Utility) person serves patients and visitors by answering phones, assisting patients with questions regarding procedures, wound care, medications. Assists with suture removals and oversees the utility room to make sure instruments are properly sanitized and room is organized.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Welcomes patients and visitors by greeting them in a friendly and professional manner whether in person or on the telephone.

Prepares necessary patient paperwork prior to patient’s appointment.

Optimizes patient satisfaction via telephone and comforts patients by anticipating their anxieties and answering their questions.

Responsible for keeping the utility room area clean by making sure that instruments are properly cleaned, sanitized and organized.

Answer the telephone in a timely and polite manner

Listen to voicemails; Creating tasks verbatim to properly document message and assign them to proper provider

Making follow-up calls to Pharmacies and Pharmaceutical companies

Follow-up calls to patients regarding Meds/Rx Refills

Maintain Accutane patients by updating i-Pledge; Sending Rx’s; Keeping female patients on track with blood work; answering online questions in a timely manner so patient windows are not missed.

Biologics require employee to call in prescriptions and call patients to explain medications and protocols for the specific drug while coordinating with Dupixent, Cosentyx, Enbrel, Remicade, Otezla, Stelara and Tremfya.

Maintains operations by following policies and procedures, and reports changes as needed.

Communicates with patients, visitors, providers and team members in a courteous, professional, cooperative and mature manner.

Participates in special projects as needed.

Qualifications:

High School Diploma required

Certified Medical Assistant preferred

Medical Terminology knowledge

1-2 years' experience in a medical office (dermatology practice preferred)
