Assistant Controller

GavinHeath is partnering with a client in Littleton, CO looking to add an Assistant Controller to their team. The role is a FTE, Hybrid position.

The Assistant Controller works under the direction of the Controller. Ideal candidates should have experience with Accounting of IT projects and Service Delivery organizations such as Consulting companies or VAR's. They will maintain financial records and perform accounts payable duties. The candidate will be familiar with full cycle accounting and understand all processes necessary to prepare financial statements which include performing account analysis, reconciliations, and preparation of accrual entries.

Oversee Timely communication of payment to vendors regarding open invoices to ensure proper customer billing.

Establish and maintain vendor and customer databases.

Research and resolve vendor inquiries regarding invoices, payment status and reconciliation to statements.

Review pre-prepared sales tax filings, post payments, reconcile the general ledger account, and research and understand discrepancies.

Assess new customers.

Oversee various state registrations such as sales tax licenses in various states.

Review the accuracy of expense coding of invoices imported into the general ledger.

Prepare general ledger accrual and pre-paid entries.

Support most aspects of accounting management (billing, tax forms, reporting etc.)

Assist in the formulation of internal controls and policies to comply with legislation and established best practices.

Assist in the preparation of financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.

Manage journal entries, invoices etc. and reconcile accounts for the monthly or annual closing.

Assist in the preparation of budgets or forecasts.

Participate in preparation for the annual audit.

Help in development of reports for management or regulatory bodies.

Review the company's accounting information to identify and resolve inaccuracies or imbalances.

Utilize accounting IT systems to facilitate processes and maintain records.

Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in accounting preferred or equivalent work experience.

2+ years of professional accounting experience preferred.

Proficient with Microsoft Excel,

Strong level of experience with MS Office suite.

Vendor and customer reconciliations experience.

Proficient in GAAP accounting principles and job costing.

Experience with Various operating systems.
