Overview:

Research Assoc., Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, OH. Coordinate activities of tech & prof employees engaged in lab research. Ensure research experiments & lab analyses are performed in accordance w/guidelines. Conduct independent research studies & lab analysis. Set up research experiments. Collect & analyze data in accordance w/statistical procedures & prepare reports of results of studies. Collaborate & interact w/researchers onsite & at other research institutions. Prepare position papers about research studies, incl info about difficulties encountered in setting up & conducting research studies. Assist in prep of scientific publications & grant proposals w/regard to a specific area of research. Attend scientific conferences & give scientific presentations. Prepare budget proposals for supplies & equipment. Min. req incl: Bachelor’s in Biology, Molecular Biology, Microbiology or related, plus 2 yrs exp, incl ability to independently design & conduct experiments (in-vitro cell culture & molecular biology work, in-vivo animal work, such as implant tumors, inject tumors, resect tumors, perform intraperitoneal injections, collect & process animal organs, etc.); ability to collect & analyze data; ability to conduct immunological experiments (ELISA, flow cytometry); & knowledgeable in basic virology & in creating attenuated virus.
