Requirements

Safely operate any assigned equipment.

Responsible for locating the drill head during drilling operations.

A good driving record is required.

Class A Commercial Driver’s License is a plus (Higher wage scales apply to CDL holders).

Ability to properly clean and maintain the equipment, check fluid levels, and conduct a visual inspection of vehicle/equipment to assure your vehicle/equipment is performing at optimum safety, perform the required pre-trip, post trip inspections and the required reports.

Load material or equipment for transport from show-up yard to job site and secure as appropriate.

Participate in job hazard analysis on daily basis or as often as conditions change.

Ensure safety of the public and other utilities underground facilities.

Ability to Read and Comprehend utility locates.

Ability to read and interpret OSP maps and designs.

Knowledge of NESC, OSHA, and related state and local codes.

Strong planning, organizational, and follow up skills.

Good analytical and communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively with multiple department staffs.

Ability to recognize priority issues and escalate accordingly.

Set equipment up including the drill, water tanks and grounding the machine.

Ability to properly formulate and mix drilling mud for the site conditions.

Willing and able to work in all weather conditions.

Place, remove or maintain underground utilities as directed. This includes laborer duties such as carrying pipe, bags of material and other heavy items, jack hammering, shoveling, tamping and installing pipe, duct or cable.

Assist in securing work site, equipment and materials at the end of each shift to ensure public safety and safety of equipment and materials.

Prepare documents, reports or job aids related to work, equipment and safety as assigned.

Additional duties as assigned.
