Job Overview:
Massman Construction Co. is currently seeking an Accounting Clerk to undertake a wide range of accounting-related tasks, including weekly cash management reporting, and hands-on management of all activities associated with Accounts Receivable. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently with little supervision, and must be organized, flexible, and enjoy the variety of work available when working in a small department. The office environment is informal but professional, requiring quality work and individual initiative. Communication skills and attention to detail are very important, and confidentiality is a must.
Work Schedule and Location:
This is an on-site position based in Overland Park, KS.
Business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close process
Responsible for all Accounts Receivable duties: prepare and post contract and miscellaneous invoices, deposit and record cash receipts, maintain customer files
Reconcile monthly credit card statements
Perform general ledger account reconciliations
Prepare and track annual state reporting requirements
Enter cash management and recurring journal entries
Respond to employment verification requests
Prepare weekly cash flow reports
Prepare monthly bank reconciliations
Collaborate cross-functionally to propose and implement improvements to processes and procedures
Assist with the preparation of monthly payroll reporting requirements, including Union reports, prevailing wage surveys, and filing certified payroll reports
Accounting duties for building management
Prepare and submit use tax returns
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years of experience working as an Accounting Clerk or similar role
Strong interpersonal skills
Discreet handling of confidential information
Attention to detail, problem-solver, analytical, multi-tasker, and strong time management skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills (particularly business email writing knowledge and experience)
Ability to interact and effectively communicate across all levels of personnel
Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize responsibilities and demands
Strong work ethic and sense of ownership over work product
Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting, or relevant field preferred
Vista by Viewpoint experience preferred
