The Operations Engineer will report directly to the Director of Utility Protection Services and work closely with the operations leadership team. This is a fast paced and pivotal role in supporting the operations team. Ideal for a junior to mid-level career professional with previous experience in construction management or site development. This role requires someone highly organized, tech-forward, and driven to grow their career. This person will be “information central” to all activities happening within the business providing critical support to our operations team. They will handle a wide range of responsibilities including coordinating field work activities, supporting the internal team, and working directly with clients.
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage client documentation processes including new subcontractor applications, site access, daily reporting, and ongoing updates.
Support field manager with daily job scheduling and manage scheduling software
Collaborate with Field Manager and Fleet Manager to ensure daily smooth operations
Implement a comprehensive document control system for all daily reporting, training records, and fleet management
Oversee the procurement process for materials and supplies, negotiating with suppliers to secure favorable terms and ensure on-time delivery.
Assist in conducting coordination meetings and writing status reports
Maintaining and optimizing field reporting software and report design
Safety program support including maintaining training records, administering training courses, and promoting safety culture
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
High school diploma required, four-year degree from an accredited university with a concentration in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred
In lieu of a degree, additional work experience is acceptable
2-5 years experience in commercial construction, site development, or hydro excavation
Ability to master sector/project-specific software systems including but not limited to: Google Workspace, Go Canvas, Field Pulse, Adobe Acrobat
Communicate clearly, concisely, and professionally, with a strong focus on business writing and verbal skills
Demonstrate a positive attitude and passion for construction and our industry
Ability to gather data, interpret it into meaningful information, and relay that information through clear, concise communication strategies; to see how pieces and processes fit into and affect the bigger picture/business model
Organize and manage tasks and priorities
