Investment Research Director -Economist PhD

Washington DC area-based financial firm is looking for an experienced investment economist to lead a team that creates original research on the structure and trends of the US and global ETF, mutual fund, and closed-end fund industries.

Responsibilities:

Manage a team of economists and direct and oversee their work on original policy-orientated research on the US Mutual Fund Industry with a focus on proposed laws and regulations that might impact the fund industry.

Work with other senior managers to develop policy positions and strategies.

Represent the firm in front of a variety of interested constituencies: regulators, policymakers, the research community, and financial media.

Requirements:

The candidate must have a PhD in Economics

The candidate must have experience managing people and projects.

The candidate must have 7+ years of experience interpreting government regulations that would have a significant economic impact on the capital markets.

Must have proven academic research and writing experience.

Must have superior analytical skills that can be translated into policy research.

Must have proven experience communicating complex issues to a wide range of audiences both in written and oral form.

Must have a very strong understanding of financial institutions and financial markets.

Must have a proven established record of economic research associated with financial markets and financial institutions.
