Job Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and adaptable Robotic Surgical Assistant to join our surgical team. The Robotic Surgical Assistant will play a key role in assisting surgeons during robotic-assisted surgical procedures, ensuring the safe and efficient use of robotic technology, and providing support to enhance patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in surgical assisting, proficiency in robotic systems, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Prepare and set up the robotic surgical system, including the robotic arms, camera, and associated instruments, in collaboration with the surgical team.

2. Assist the surgeon in positioning and docking the robotic arms, ensuring optimal access to the surgical site and alignment with the patient's anatomy.

3. Operate the robotic console and control system according to the surgeon's instructions, maintaining a steady and precise hand-eye coordination throughout the procedure.

4. Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and proactively provide assistance, including instrument exchanges, camera adjustments, and troubleshooting technical issues related to the robotic system.

5. Monitor the patient's vital signs and response to the robotic-assisted procedure, maintaining awareness of any changes or potential complications.

6. Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile surgical field, handle surgical instruments, and manage the flow of equipment during the procedure.

7. Participate in post-operative activities, including the safe shutdown and disassembly of the robotic system, and transfer of the patient to the recovery area.

8. Document all aspects of the robotic-assisted procedure, including equipment setup, intraoperative events, and patient status, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Certified Surgical First Assistant (SA) with experience in robotic surgery techniques and technology.

2. Proficiency in the operation and setup of robotic surgical systems, including but not limited to da Vinci Surgical Systems or similar platforms.

3. Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and surgical instrumentation related to robotic-assisted procedures.

4. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide seamless support during procedures.

5. Ability to remain focused and composed during complex surgical procedures, demonstrating attention to detail and adaptability in a dynamic environment.

6. Knowledge of sterile technique, infection control, and patient safety protocols in the context of robotic surgery.

7. Commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards in the perioperative setting, including patient confidentiality and respect for patient autonomy.

8. Willingness to undergo additional training and certification in robotic surgical technology and procedures as required.

Working Environment:

The Robotic Surgical Assistant will work closely with the surgical team in a hospital or surgical center setting, participating in a variety of robotic-assisted surgical procedures across different specialties. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency, adaptability to different surgical techniques, and the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons and perioperative team members.
