Print Production Manager

BrightKey is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Print and Copy Machine Operator to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and accurate production of printed and copied materials. Your expertise in operating and maintaining various types of print and copy machinery will ensure that our business communications are produced to the highest standards. Compensation & Benefits:

Hourly pay rate is $19.11 per hour plus $4.57 per hour health & welfare

On-site in Washington, DC

Monday through Friday (first shift)

***Experience in loading paper/ink and maintenance of standard office printers, is not enough experience, on its own, to qualify for this position. Please see the below "Required Experience".

Required Experience:

Binding

Tabbing

Large Scale Printing (i.e. large custom print jobs including 100s/1000s of pages at a time

Large Scale Copying (i.e. custom copy jobs including 100s/1000s of documents) including job verification and quality control

Large Scale Scanning

Candidates should have prior experience in a professional print shop environment

Job Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain print and copy machines, including digital, offset, large format, and multifunction printers.

Monitor and adjust printing and copying settings for quality and accuracy.

Load and unload paper stocks, manage inventory, and ensure the use of proper materials for different print jobs.

Troubleshoot and resolve machine malfunctions or quality issues promptly.

Perform routine maintenance on machines to ensure they are clean and functioning optimally.

Keep accurate records of print/copy job details, machine performance, and maintenance activities.

Assist customers with copying and printing services, providing guidance on options and pricing.

Ensure the completion of print and copy jobs within established deadlines and quality standards.

Follow company protocols for the handling and privacy of sensitive documents. - Collaborate with team members to manage job queues and workflow efficiently.

Calculate and monitor the usage of consumables and supplies, reordering as necessary.

Adhere to health and safety regulations relating to the operation of print and copy equipment.

Provide training and support to new staff or users on how to operate the machines effectively.

Manage the finishing processes for printed materials, such as binding, cutting, and laminating.

Communicate with service technicians for major repairs or servicing of the print and copy machines.Job Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent

Minimum of 1 year experience operating print and copy machines in a professional environment

Proficiency in using digital printing and copying equipment, such as Xerox, Canon, or Ricoh machines

Basic knowledge of print production workflow and prepress file setup

Familiarity with finishing equipment and techniques (e.g., binding, cutting, folding)

Ability to perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot common machine issues

Strong attention to detail for quality control purposes

Good organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

Basic computer skills and experience with print/copy-related software

Ability to lift and move supplies and inventory (approximately 50-75 lbs)

Excellent communication skills for interacting with clients and team members

Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekends or evenings if required

Keen understanding of job ticket information to ensure accuracy of work

Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to safety guidelines

Ability to stand for extended periods of time during shift operations
