Encino provides innovative custom and technical environmental solutions in the areas of source evaluation (Emissions Performance Testing), leak detection and repair (LDAR), and continuous emissions monitoring systems (CEMS). Product lines also include emissions management devices and satellites (micro-SATS) for greenhouse gas (GHG) detection from space and emissions reduction products, primarily a composite thief hatch.

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Emissions Testing is the core service that Encino was founded upon and wants to be seen as the industry leader with growth generated both organically and inorganically.

The Senior Emissions / Stack Technician will play a critical role in leading stack & emissions testing projects, mentoring junior staff, and providing technical expertise to clients. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of success in conducting emissions / stack testing and emissions monitoring in various industrial settings. The primary job duty will be to conduct emissions / stack testing based on an approved protocol at our client’s sites and create reports for the customer.

MAJOR ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead emissions / stack testing projects from inception to completion, including project planning, scheduling, and execution.

· Conduct emissions / stack testing on industrial stacks to measure pollutants such as particulate matter, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), carbon monoxide (CO), hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and other regulated substances.

· Develop and implement testing protocols and procedures in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, industry standards, and client requirements.

· Coordinate field activities, including equipment setup, sample collection, and data acquisition, to ensure accurate and efficient testing operations.

· Operate advanced emissions / stack testing equipment, including Isokinetic Samplers, Continuous Emission Monitors (CEMs), Gas Chromatographs (GCs), and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometers.

· Analyze test results and prepare comprehensive reports documenting test procedures, data analysis, and regulatory compliance status.

· Provide technical guidance and training to junior staff members on stack testing techniques, equipment operation, and data interpretation.

· Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, regulatory agencies, and internal stakeholders regarding stack testing projects and air quality compliance issues.

· Stay abreast of developments in air quality regulations, emerging technologies, and industry best practices related to stack testing and emissions monitoring.

· Monitor utilization of emissions / stack testing assets / personnel and make recommendations on capital expenditures and changes in staffing levels.

· Participate in building of new testing trailers while documenting the buildout procedures.

· Participation in client engagements, including meetings, conferences, and social events.

· Using technical knowledge to explain product specifications and complex concepts to customers, particularly related to emissions / stack testing.

· Identify opportunities for pull-through sales based on client discussions or changing requirements.

KEY SKILLS & ABILITIES

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Knowledge of Engine Testing requirements and regulations as well as technology utilized.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Excellent supervisory skills.

· Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

· Proficient with Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Teams, etc.).

· Proficient with Stack / Emissions Testing software.

· Be fluent in English and possess exceptional communications skills. Fluency in a second language, particularly Spanish, is a plus.

· Proficient in database and computer application systems.

· A sense of urgency for results, and

· Ability to motivate peers and teams.

Education and Experience:

· Associate degree or technical certification in environmental science, engineering technology, or a related field. Bachelor's degree preferred.

· At least 5+ years of progressive experience in stack testing and emissions monitoring, with a focus on industrial sources.

· Proven expertise in interpreting and applying air quality regulations, including any state specific agencies regulations and federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) requirements.

· Strong proficiency in operating and troubleshooting advanced stack testing equipment and instrumentation.

· Excellent project management skills, with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and coordinate resources.

· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.

· Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

· Professional certifications such as Certified Stack Testing Specialist (CSTS), Emissions Measurement Specialist (CEMS) or Qualified Stack Testing Individual (QSTI) are highly desirable.

· Must be able to manage a variety of tasks while maintaining progress against multiple schedules (Project Management).

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.
