Ontogen Medtech seeks a Senior Electrical / Firmware Engineer to join its product development team to assist with activities related to the design, development, and production of innovative medical device products in Chicagoland, IL. This position requires a creative mind and an ability to transform abstract concepts and design challenges into viable product designs.
Responsibilities:
product conceptualization and design
Circuit design and simulation
PCB layout and schematic generation
Firmware coding and debugging for new product concepts and designs
intellectual property development
proof of concept hands-on prototype fabrication
design and creation of new test methods and fixtures
DHF documentation preparation
drafting and executing test protocols
conducting prototype tests
gathering, organizing, and reporting test data
regulatory submission preparation
documenting official procedures
frequent interaction with vendors and suppliers to ensure timely completion of deliverables
any other responsibilities assigned by Management.
Minimum Qualifications:
BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
5+ years industry experience (non-academic)
Demonstrated proficiency in PCB layout and circuit design tools and concepts
Demonstrated aptitude in creative electrical design solutions to abstract problems
Demonstrated experience generating product ideas and developing through to production
Experience with medical device development and FDA quality practices and standards, including ISO 13485;
Experience navigating intellectual property, patent claims, freedom-to-operate, etc.
Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Excellent oral and written communication skills, particularly in technical writing and documentation
Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, and critical thinking skills.
Desirable Qualifications:
MS in Engineering
5+ years Medical Device R&D experience
Prior experience working in a fast-paced medtech startup environment
Experience and familiarity with IEC 60601
Experience and familiarity with IEC 62304
