Job purpose

As the purchasing manager the focus will be on strategic buying and locating/maintaining the best sources of supply for the products, supplies, and materials as per the company needs. A focus on cost savings and managing all aspects of their relationship with suppliers, including quality, value, pricing, overall capacity, and the ability to respond quickly to changing supply requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

Manage portfolio of vendors to focus on overall cost savings with transportation, volume and negotiate pricing contracts.

Perform supplier market/category/supply risk analysis and develop total cost ownership model to identify improvement opportunities.

Make new sourcing recommendations based on overall cost and benefit including price, duty, freight, flexibility, service, performance, quality, and terms & conditions.

Accountable for budget, quality, delivery, and long-term assurance of purchasing objectives with the supply base are established and are achieved.

Provide list of documents from existing suppliers and new suppliers as required by RDJ.

Support R&D team with new project sourcing of raw materials as required.

Act as the interface between suppliers and internal stakeholders on purchasing processes, new projects, and related activities.

Continuously optimize financial performance by reducing the cost of materials and by limiting unfavorable variances

Effectively lead continuous improvement projects with a focus on Supplier Performance initiatives across our locations

Develop comprehensive product cost driver tracker to evaluate and negotiate prices.

Continually evaluate industry trends to determine potential impact on our supply and initiate action to ensure reliable continued flow of materials to the company.

Resolve escalation of non-conformances on delivered products with suppliers for accurate cost recovery.

Maintain a contract tracker for any applicable signed contracts showing start, end date, price, and terms of contract by vendor.

Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.

Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.

Approve the vacation requests.

Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.

Issue disciplinary action when needed.

Perform other assigned duties.

Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.

Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.

Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Post secondary education in Supply chain, Purchasing, Business or logistics.

Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in handling negotiations and cost savings in a purchasing role

Exhibit skill in developing & managing contingency plans, risk factors, and interdependencies.

Experience in handling large vendors and providing analytics.

Ability to set priorities and undertake initiative to time sensitive demands/deadlines.

Strong oral and written communication.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working conditions

Travel to all RDJ locations

Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting and temperature.

Physical requirements

Ability to bend or twist their body.

Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
