Sample Management Specialist

Job Description

OBJECTIVE:

The Sample Management Specialist assists the Sample Manager in the duties of maintaining inventory of biological products/specimens, chemicals, and other laboratory materials. Duties include well-documented receipt, storage and shipment for all biological samples stored at the BIOQUAL, Inc. facilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

BS or BA degree preferred.

Experience handling/manipulating/shipping biological specimens or chemicals preferred.

Experience working with cryo-storage preferred.

Able to obtain/maintain SAF-T-PAK Shipping Certification for shipment of Dangerous Goods.

Able to obtain/maintain CDC Select Agent Program clearance.

Able to obtain/maintain A/BSL3 access.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Strong organizational skills preferred.

Able to communicate verbally and in writing.

Able to sit, stand, lift and/or move up to 50lbs, daily uses of hand dexterity to handle objects or controls.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receive biological specimens/materials from external sources (e.g., clients or suppliers).

Prepare, package, and ship study specimens/materials to external sources (i.e., clients).

Maintain physical and electronic records of study specimens/materials.

Assist laboratory, animal, and administrative staff members in locating study specimens/materials and related documents.

Perform data entry as applicable to the maintenance and/or shipment of study specimens/materials.

Notify study leaders of inventory changes and dispose of study specimens/materials as directed.

Interact professionally with clients.

Monitor cold storage units and assist with routine maintenance, as applicable.

Perform all work following Good Documentation Practices.

Perform other duties as assigned.
