Working on smaller planes owned by the client
Supporting the College of Aeronautics – making sure the planes have proper maintenance.
Team consists of the director and 2 aviation mechanics
Small piston engine aviation is the priority – small jets
Managing aircrafts and fleet
Put a lot of flying hours on these planes - 75-100 hours/month on average
Every 100 hours goes through an inspection and this director will have oversight on this
Managing and monitoring the sequence of events – they currently use a few local maintenance vendors to support them
Decide which airplanes are gonna be on the line flying - planning & scheduling the aircrafts
In charge of scheduling the painting for every 5-7 years for the life of the plane
May need to replace tires occasionally.
Prioritizing safety of the jets
99.5% focused on Maintenace of the jets
Instructors take care of the teaching so the Maintenace tech would rarely need to step in
Maintenance needs to share what's going on with the engine, etc. to the Maintenace contacts
Good work/life balance and strong team culture in this role
May need to fly the plane to see if it's working if they are a pilot
The team consists of 25 flight instructors on staff, flight school coordinator, and a few pilots
