Foreman-Aggregate

Team Elmer's seeks to fill an opening for a skilled Foreman. This position will directly supervise and coordinate activities of employees assigned to the recycling plant operation; performing manual, supervisory and management duties as assigned. Additionally, may be required to travel out of town for a portion of the year.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Coordinate and manage the portable recycling plant and employees assigned to it.

Participate in the moving of the plant and assure a smooth transition of the plant from location to location.

Recognize and communicate to Aggregate Crushing Manager any priority projects or problems, such as employee or job costing issues.

Ensure that proper safety and incident reporting procedures are followed bring problems to the attention of the Manager, Safety Director and/or Human Resources.

Coordinate, direct and lead workers. Assign work to employees, using material and worker requirements data.

Supervise crews to obtain top quality workmanship, efficiency, employee satisfaction, morale, communication, commitment, teamwork and pride.

Review and verify employee time sheets and submit to Payroll on specified days. Ensure that hours are assigned properly.

Suggest and initiate personnel actions, such as communication of performance concerns to management, addressing of performance concerns, ensuring MSHA and company safety policies are followed and training requirements are met and /or completed.

Analyze and resolve worker problems and recommend motivational plans.

Regularly communicate with the Aggregate Crushing Manager about repair and maintenance needs on all major pieces of equipment on assigned jobs.

Follow daily foreman procedures & protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings.

Operate a CAT 980 or 988 loader

Know and follow all company safety policies as well as OSHA, MIOSHA, and MSHA regulations.

Practice safety at all times including driving of company vehicles or use of equipment. Use PPE while on jobsite e.g. hard hat safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Valid license, CDL preferred or the ability to obtain within one year.

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Clean driving record for past 3 years.

Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) Training, preferred but not required.

Experience operating a front end loader in a sand and gravel environment, preferred.

Basic knowledge of administration and management. Must be able to plan, allocate resources, manage production and coordinate people and equipment.

Knowledge of materials, methods and the tools involved in the construction industry or specific company division.

Strong coordination, time management, active listening, oral and written expression and comprehension, critical thinking and reasoning skills.

Ability to exercise good judgment when carrying out duties and to maintain good working relationships with the public and fellow employees.

Strong mathematical abilities and the ability to remember words, numbers and other information. Must be able to read, understand and apply information obtained from blueprints, surveys and job specifications.

Ability to see details at close range (within a few feet).

Advanced mechanical skills a plus.

Welding skills and abilities.

Ability to work long hours and perform repetitive movements.

Must be willing to travel.

Must be willing to work long hours (12 hour days), 5-6 days per week. Also willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.

Ability to work in all environmental conditions but especially in a dry and hot environment for 10 or more hours a day.

Good work ethic, punctuality and alertness.

Mechanical knowledge of equipment, machines and tools including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
