The Edison Electric Institute (EEI) is seeking a talented and committed intern to join the International Programs team this summer. In this role, you will work with the International Programs team which manages the membership of EEI’s 70+ international electric companies. Through this role, you will expand your knowledge of global energy trends and energy projects carried out by our international member companies and have opportunities to connect with thought leaders in the industry. You will mainly coordinate with the senior analyst, however, must be flexible as you may receive some requests from the Senior Vice President and other team members for department needs. The dates of this internship are mid-May through mid-August and requires a commitment of 20 - 35 hours per week. Start and end dates are negotiable.

EEI is the trade association for all U.S. investor-owned electric companies. Our office is located in the heart of Penn Quarter, on Pennsylvania Avenue between the U.S. Capitol Building and the White House.

This is a paid internship.

College Students: $20 per hour

Graduate Students: $25 per hour

This is a great opportunity for an undergraduate or graduate student with an interest international affairs.

Responsibilities

Assist in implementing, updating, and maintain an internal database of member company CEOs, contacts, and membership companies

Provide research assistance to Senior Analyst on member company requests

Support member engagement opportunities with the relaunch of the Global Utilities Platform (GUP), identifying and maintaining reports and resources for the GUP and assisting in developing discussion questions for member input

Identify metrics to track to share overall international membership story

Draft descriptions for member webinars

Assist on presentation materials for quarterly member briefings

Provide logistical support on any departmental events during course of internship where necessary

Accelerate membership storytelling through assisting in the launch and updating of the Library of Innovation with videos, new stories, and images

Engage in personal research project relevant to member company interests and industry storytelling with deliverable/work product before completion of internship

Qualifications

Preferred Candidate:• Enrolled in or recently completed master’s program in energy-related field or recent graduate/graduate from bachelor’s program with relevant internship/work experience• Demonstrated expertise or interest on climate-change and/or energy issues• Strong research and writing skills, detail-oriented • Ability to work independently and within team environment as necessary Requirements:• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • Openness and ability to quickly learn other programs needed to complete above responsibilities • Fluent and proficient in English to complete writing assignments • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and complete tasks on time• Upon an interview, a writing sample (2 pages maximum) will be requested relevant to the energy industry. A recent sample can be submitted or a prompt will be given.
