Responsibilities & Qualifications

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for effective provisioning, operation, installation/configuration and maintenance of systems hardware/software/related infrastructure. Provide technical support, guidance and hands-on delivery in the planning, implementation and ongoing operations. The Systems Engineer shall participate in technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the infrastructure. Ensure that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and regulatory requirements. The Systems Engineer shall document specifications, project plans, configurations, test plans and results. Depicts complex ideas, issues and designs to varied audiences; communicates project objectives, scope and status to project teams.

Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:

Provide administrative and technical support for current and future storage technologies used by DLA.

Create, test, implement, and remove backup policies as required for various DLA systems including, but not limited to Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems.

Install, configure, and remove physical and virtual appliances and servers used for DLA backup operations.

Perform file and system level restoration using provided backup tools as required.

Utilize Service Now to document restore requests

Provide expert knowledge on IT storage vendors in use by DLA: Hitachi, NetApp, Dell EMC, Dell, HPE, Brocade, and Cloud agnostic 3rd party technologies such as Azure Storage and AWS Storage.

Provide expert knowledge in DLA’s current storage monitoring solutions including, but not limited to Brocade Network Advisor, Brocade SANnav, NetApp OnCommand Unified Manager, NetApp IQ, NetApp OnCommand Insight, EMC Unisphere Central, HP 3PAR Management Server, and Hitachi Command Suite.

Daily operations for storage administration include:

Storage Array administration

LUN / Volume administration

Fiber switch administration

Storage File Sharing

Security Implementation

Data Migrations

Pilot Projects / Proof of Concept

Cloud Tier support and administration

Other duties as assigned

Provide on-call Support to DLA Enterprise Storage mission 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365/366 days per year, including weekends and holidays is required as part of a weekly rotating schedule. This support includes low and high side environments. In addition, this support requires the Contractor to respond to after hour call-back support within 2-hours of notification. The Contractors shall follow DoD/DLA, Information Operations policies and processes for information assurance.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Five (5) years of overall professional experience in the engineering field.

Two (2) years hands-on experience with enterprise SAN (Storage Area Network) management to include capabilities and technologies such as: Fiber Channel zoning, FCoE (Fiber Channel over Ethernet) unified fabric, HBA/CNA (Host Bus Adapter/Converged Network Adapter), storage controllers, and LUN (Logical Unit Number), RAID (Redundant Array of Independent Disks), and file sharing / NAS (Network Addressable Storage).

Five (5) years hands-on experience with enterprise hierarchical storage system management; operation of enterprise backup/restore services, using software such as Veritas NetBackup.

Two (2) years hands-on experience with Azure Recovery Services (ARS).

Must have at least five (5) years of experience working with DLA IT systems

Sensitivity Level: IT-I

Clearance: SECRET

IA Level: IAT-II (CCNA-Security, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, Security+ CE, CND, SSCP)

Computing Environment (any of): Dell EMC Information Storage and Management (DECA-ISM),Hitachi Vantara Qualified Professional – Storage Administration, NetApp Certified DataAdministrator (NCDA), SNIA Storage Networking Certification Program (SNCP), VeritasCertified Specialist (VCS), NetBackup Administrator

We are seeking a Storage Systems Administrator to join our team supporting the Defense Logistics Agency in Columbus, OH.

This position directly supports the activities required for storage and backup hardware and software administration on the required DLA Enterprise infrastructure. This position is responsible for the security and system administration of various storage and backup platforms. System administration will be in support of the DLA Storage and backup infrastructure. Storage and backup infrastructure refers to all DLA Non-Secure Internet Protocol Router Network (NIPRNET) and Secret Internet Protocol Router Network (SIPRNET) networks supporting storage and backup related operations. This position also provides support to DLA Disaster Recovery (DR) and Continuance of Operation Plans (COOP) on mission critical systems. This includes traveling offsite for DR/COOP exercises, and support for a true disaster scenario.
