Job Summary

The Business Manager will direct the management of the finances and business office support for their assigned area(s) with annual, weighted operating expenditures exceeding $43 million dollars. Serve as the resource/liaison for assigned area to the central offices. Provide proper interpretation of University, Federal, State, and sponsoring agency policies and procedures. Collaborate closely with central business service operations and other related entities in meeting the strategic goals of the University. This position will play a key role in the preparation of financial and management reports to support long-range planning forecasts; budget recommendations, planning, and analysis; and financial analysis and strategic financial management of the department. Serve as mentor and key resource person to direct reports and peers within the business office. Serve as assigned. Maintain a unit that provides excellent business management support to the department Executive Leadership, Directors, Managers, staff, and students.

The salary for this position will start around $71,000 per year, plus benefits.

This role is designed to be predominantly remote, yet it requires the flexibility to attend on-campus engagements. Such occasions may include meetings with faculty and staff, participation in or facilitation of training sessions, and attendance at leadership or faculty meetings, among other in-person commitments.

Required:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance or related field of study

Four (4) years of business administration, financial management, or related experience

Ability to analyze, interpret, implement and communicate University policies and procedures.

Demonstrated oral and written communication skills.

Excellent planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, financial analysis, supervisory, and customer service skills.

Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels.

Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes accountability, respect and teamwork to successfully guide the work of others.

Must possess a learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, etc.

Proficient in following software: Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook

Demonstrate originality, creativity, and ability to resolve complex issues on a daily basis

Preferred:

Six credit hours of accounting coursework

A demonstrated knowledge of sponsor and University regulations and basic proficiency in all technical and professional skills related to business office and contract grant management

Knowledge of SAP, Cognos and Banner
