Job Description

Salary:

If you're a digital designer who understands how to design for any screen, loves digging into a good Figma file, and is not afraid of a challenge, we'd love to talk to you!

We’re looking for someone with experience crafting empathetic UX, designing beautiful and responsive websites, and working with/creating design and brand systems with passion and thoughtfulness. While we primarily create websites, our small but mighty creative team is made up of design generalists that have the flexibility to tackle a range of projects from product and UI design, to branding and print design. Experience with other mediums such as motion graphics, video, photography, illustration, 3D, etc also gets us excited.

We're a pretty small and close-knit team, so the ability to work collaboratively while also being self-motivated is also super important.

This is a full-time position and will eventually be based out of our Chicago office, though we’re all working from home until it’s safe to do otherwise. We will also consider hiring someone who's fully remote, but it has to be a dream match.

Responsibilities:

Collaborate with the creative, development and production teams while also working independently

Conceptualize and create user experience and visual designs across a wide range of media including websites, products, branding and occasional print pieces

Evaluate and adapt designs based on feedback provided

Work within existing brand systems or create them from scratch if needed

Understand the business goals and objectives of our clients and translate them into visual solutions

Confidently present your work to clients

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in graphic design or equivalent

3+ years of relevant experience

Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma

Strong conceptual, design, typography and multitasking skills

Demonstrated ability to create effective responsive website designs with the ability to design for other screens and mediums

What You Get:

Ownership of your work from concept to completion. From designing and presenting your work to clients, to handing it off to our development team, and even giving the final product a design review, you'll have full ownership and be participating in every step of the process.

Independence and autonomy. Our Creative Directors don't simply have you execute their idea, but instead help mold, shape and sharpen your concept to help bring it to life. We're here to help guide you, not tell you what to do.

The ability to try new things and be on the forefront of technology. While we're currently dipping our toes into Web3, Mess is constantly learning, evolving and adapting to all of the exciting possibilities that new technological innovations offer us.

Actual work/life balance. Our office opens at 10:00am and only under extremely rare and exceptional circumstances do we ask people to work late or on the weekends. Everyone has their own life outside of their job and we respect that.

A handful of assorted office dogs and the ability to bring your pup to work if you want!

Competitive salary

3 weeks of paid leave

100% paid health care coverage for you plus dental insurance. Medical deductibles are covered by an HRA plan.

401k (with employer match) eligibility after first year of employment
