Job Description

This job is to package or assemble a variety of automotive and boat parts/products!

Packers will be wrapping and packing items in boxes, crates, cartons and clam shells using appropriate materials to prevent breakage or damage in shipment.

Assemblers may be taught soldering and machine operation in addition to assembling small parts by hand such as compasses according to technical drawing specifications.

PACKER JOB DUTIES:

Performs manual packaging operations and operates machinery to fill, mark, label, band, tie, pack and wrap containers with products and materials.

Observes operations and inspects packaged items for conformance with specifications.

Counts to verify amount of product being packed. Closes and seals containers and labels or stencils, as required.

Tallies, weighs, transports, stacks and arranges products and packed containers.

Records information such as weight, time and date packaged.

Inspects materials, products and containers at each step of the packaging process.

Reports defective materials, mechanical failures or questionable conditions to supervisor.

May obtain and sort items to be packaged and replenish packaging supplies.

Maintains work area in a clean and safe manner.

Observes all safety and personal protection equipment procedures.

Performs other related duties as assigned. Expected to be available to work in other areas of production and must be able to work overtime when required (including short notice overtime) to meet daily customer demands.

ASSEMBLER JOB DUTIES:

· Reads and follows work orders, production drawings, sample assemblies and verbal instructions regarding duties to be performed.

· Positions and aligns parts in specified relationship to each other in jig, fixture or other holding device.

· Crimps, stakes, screws, bolts, rivets, welds, solders, cements, press fits or performs similar operations to join or secure parts in place.

· Installs finished assemblies or subassemblies in cases and cabinets.

· Assembles and attaches labels and hardware, such as caps, clamps, knobs and switches to assemblies.

· Performs intermediate assembly tasks such as potting, encapsulating, sanding, cleaning, epoxy bonding, curing, stamping, etching, impregnating and color-coding parts and assemblies.

· Tends machines that press, shape or wind component parts.

· Adjusts or trims materials from components to achieve specified electrical or dimensional characteristics.

· Keeps work area, machines, and equipment clean (5S); follows standardized instructions and procedures.

· Observes safety and security procedures and uses equipment and materials properly.

· Reports defective materials, mechanical failures, or questionable conditions to department supervisor.

· Pays close attention to detail and performs online go-not-go testing and inspection to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.

· Places finished goods on the designated pallet. May attach appropriate labels and tags to products and packages and pack finished goods into correct packages and boxes.

· May set up and operate calibrating equipment, to include precision assembling and adjusting instruments to meet calibration standards and tolerances.

· Performs other related duties and assignments as required. Expected to be available to work in all areas of production and must be able to work overtime when required (including short notice overtime) to meet daily customer demands.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

6 months of related experience or training
