Position Summary

Responsibilities include performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment within the facility. This person reports to the Owner and will be a key contributor to the organization’s success as the company's equipment expert. Experience with Horizonal Flow Wrappers and Cartoning Machines a huge plus.

Essential Functions

Use any and all OEM Resources to expand knowledge of facility equipment to ensure the equipment is meeting defined capabilities.

Perform preventive maintenance following the equipment manufacturer’s guidelines and schedule.

Key member of the team to define and document SOP’s, train associates on proper start up, operation and shut down of manufacturing equipment.

Key member of the team to determine best practices in cleaning manufacturing equipment.

Visually inspect, test and troubleshoot machinery to detect malfunctions before manufacturing begins and perform emergency repairs to ensure quality manufacturing.

Key member of the changeover team.

Document and communicate equipment issues to owner and appropriate staff and be aware of any equipment downtime.

Organize and maintain spare parts inventory for all manufacturing equipment.

Key member of the team to organize and maintain any specialized tools and tool kits for all manufacturing equipment.

Minor building maintenance, but coordinate the majority of repairs through outside contractors for building and utility support.

Material Handling Equipment: Coordinate preventative maintenance and repairs with an outside contractor.

Work with the Owner to ensure year round compliance for the annual third part food safety audit.

Determine with the Owner how to handle equipment downtime situations during off times. Occasional Saturdays, Sundays or nights may be needed to meet manufacturing requirements.

Understand the manufacturing process flow so that repairs can be prioritized with the Owner.

Required Education, Qualifications and Skills

Minimum of 2 years of automated equipment experience.

A high school diploma or the equivalent.

Controls experience required.

Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude required.

Experience with flow wrappers, cartoners, fillers, printers or other types of packaging equipment is required.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail, and ability to prioritize.

Strong time management and problem-solving skills, self-directed and ability to work unsupervised.

Exceptional communication skills, written, verbal, listening and interpersonal.

Ability to perform physical labor as needed.

Experience in Food Manufacturing a huge plus.

Knowledge of HACCP, COP and CIP systems a plus.
