Our Impact:

Freddie Mac purchases almost a quarter of all single-family residence mortgages in the United States and provides liquidity to hundreds of billions of dollars of workforce and affordable multifamily housing. The Legal Division’s safety-and-soundness unit provides legal advice to internal clients on a wide range of issues related to Freddie Mac as a business entity, including financial regulatory, compliance and risk management matters affecting the legal and business environment in which Freddie Mac and other financial institutions operate. We also assist our clients in navigating complex requirements applicable to government-sponsored enterprises.

Your Impact:

Serve as counsel providing legal analysis and advice on some or all of the following:

Safety-and-soundness regulatory issues, including requirements related to resolution planning, capital and liquidity

Enterprise risk management and compliance initiatives

Corporate sustainability (ESG) initiatives

Interpretations of Freddie Mac’s statutory and regulatory powers and obligations

Legal implications of business activities

Oversight and operation of Freddie Mac by FHFA as conservator

Strategic decisions related to legislative and regulatory requirements

Responses to regulatory rule-makings

Matters related to representation of Freddie Mac before regulatory agencies and other parties

Qualifications:

A Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited U.S. law school and bar membership in any U.S. jurisdiction

7 or more years of relevant legal experience preferred; experience with law firms, bank regulatory agencies, or financial services entities is desirable

Knowledge of financial regulation, administrative law and legislative and regulatory processes

Experience with resolution planning and risk management is desirable

Superior analytical, strategic, legal research and writing capabilities, as well as excellent verbal/written communications skills

Demonstrated ability to synthesize and analyze information in a very fluid and fast-paced environment

Ability to manage numerous issues across multiple substantive areas and to set priorities independently

This position has an annualized market-based salary range of $228,000 - $342,000 and is eligible to participate in the annual incentive program. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
