Description:About the Unit:

The Surgery department at Mount Carmel New Albany has 10 operating rooms and focuses heavily on orthopedic surgery (hips, knees, shoulders, spine, sports medicine, podiatry) while occasionally seeing some plastics and general surgery cases. This team averages 15-20 cases per day and requires minimal call and no weekend coverage. The ortho surgery focus as Mount Carmel New Albany provides a unique family-like atmosphere to staff and patients.

About the job:

The Surgical Technician (Surg Tech, CST), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, will provide patient care in an atmosphere sensitive to each person’s physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs. Under the RN’s direction, sets up, and maintains the surgical field and assists the surgeon during operative procedures.

What you will do:

Assists in meeting goals and initiatives for surgery department; such as, but not limited to room turnover and first-case on-time starts

Assists in training/orientation of associates as directed by the Clinical Educator

Maintains a safe environment for the patient

Maintains sterile techniques

What we are looking for:

Education: Graduate of a surgical technology program, holds a certificate of surgical technology through the NBSTSA, or graduate of a school of practical nursing

Licensure / Certification: If a graduate of a school of practical nursing, current license in good standing to practice as a practical nurse in the State of Ohio

BLS healthcare provider training required
