Please follow these steps: Step One Step Two Child Educator- Building Blocks PreSchool Purpose Statement: The Child Educator in the Building Blocks Preschool program is responsible for coordinating, organizing, and monitoring children's activities in the day-to-day operation of the Building Blocks preschool program for 3 - 5 year olds at the school site.

Applicants need to be well versed in developmentally appropriate practices (DAP) for early childhood education with the ability to work well with preschool-aged children.

Maturity and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

Essential Functions * Read and follow Building Blocks Preschool & GPS Employee Handbook.

* Under the direction/approval of the program supervisor may collaborate on any purchasing of supplies and equipment.

? Follow all guidelines set forth by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

(AZDHS Licensing) * Ensure the registration process of students is complete and updated as needed.

* Intentionally plans lessons aligned to the Arizona Early Learning Standards * Arranges the classroom/learning environment with the ECRS (Early Childhood Rating Scale) in mind * Delivers developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with CLASS (Classroom Assessment Scoring System) ? Maintain effective communication with school staff, principal, program manager and Director of Early Learning.

? Create consistent classroom schedule adhering to location schedule; assigned lunch/recess.

* Implementation and instruction of supplied Building Block curriculum that are aligned to the Arizona Early Learning Standards.

* Confers first with program manager, then the Director of Early Learning, principal, parents, and school psychologist as appropriate for the purpose of assisting in the evaluation of preschool age student's progress and/or implementing student's behavioral objectives * Create and implement structured classroom behavior model (Prevent-Teach-Reinforce). * Follow Building Blocks formal behavior plan if needed.

* Complete daily reports for each student in attendance.

* Maintain availability to meet and consult with parents upon request.

* Greets parents and children as they arrive and assists in the transition to school * Communicates effectively with parents, and preschool children (e.g.

newsletter, parent board, emails, etc.

. . ) * Adhering to AZDHS nutritional guidelines & completion of bi-weekly food orders.

Plans, posts, prepares and serves nutritional snacks that follow state requirements and adheres to the Empower Program guidelines.

* Meeting all required deadlines of Building Blocks paperwork.

* Mentor, manage and supervise all Child Educator Assistants.

* Create a manageable schedule for classroom duties amongst staff; prepping, cleaning, etc.

* Assures quality indicators of selected (AZ Case/Quality First Standards) accreditation as well-known and adhered to by staff.

Completion of all other duties as assigned.

Other Functions * Attends professional development, training, and department/campus meetings for the purpose of acquiring and/or conveying information relative to job functions.

* Assists other personnel for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.

* Complete 24 hours of yearly training required by AZDHS licensing.

Job Requirements Mental Requirements Learning Development- Level C Sufficient to read and write technical instruction, understand standardized methods, operate specialized and varied equipment, perform standard mathematical applications.

Learning development involves the equivalent of some technical or vocational training beyond high school, often resulting in a certification.

Problem Solving - Level 2 Work situations require consideration and interpretation of circumstances or information to choose the most effective responses.

Solutions may be somewhat technical, yet are relatively straightforward, obvious and well-defined once problems are understood.

Responses come from the realm of prior learning and experiences.

Physical Requirements Physical Skill - Level A Basic level of learned physical skill is required.

No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily.

Physical Effort - Level 1 Minimal physical exertion is required.

Most job time is spent sitting with occasional walking.

Occasional lifting, guiding, and carrying of lightweight materials or equipment.

Experience, Education, and Certifications Experience: 21 years old or older per AZDHS; 2+ years of experience with young/preschool-aged children in a licensed group setting, or any combination of experience and education to successfully complete the job.

Job-related experience is required.

Education: High school diploma or GED with 30 clock hours in Early Childhood Education trainings and 12 months of experience; OR High school diploma or GED with 3 college credits in Early Childhood Education and 12 months experience; OR NAC/CDA/CCP/CPC and 12 months of experience; OR Associates Degree in Early Childhood/closely related field and 6 months experience; OR Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood/closely related field and 3 months experience; OR 24 credits with 6 credits in ECE* and 12 months experience Certifications/Clearances: Must possess a valid Arizona DPS Level One IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card while employed.

CPR/ First Aid Certificate.

Must meet Arizona Department of Health Services (AZDHS) Child Day Care Center Child-Educator-Caregiver requirements.

Valid Food Handlers Card.

Required Testing: Continuing Educ.

/ Training: 24 hours of professional development courses to be completed every calendar year as required by the Arizona Department of Health Services, Division of Licensing Services.
