EXPERIENCE

9/08 to 10/08 –State Emergency Response Team (SERT), Florida Division of Emergency Management- A temporary Community Response (CR) field worker, disseminated and collected information and activities used to assist disaster affected communities and individuals in receiving their entitled assistance. Met with community and faith based leaders to develop a network for providing information and created flexible action plans to complete the operation. Identified unspecified areas of need and reported on the overall effectiveness of the program.

8/07 to 1/08 - Substitute Teacher, Seminole County Public Schools- Manages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the teacher. 11/06 to 6/08 - Battalion Staff Officer, US Army National Guard- Responsible for assisting the Battalion Commander and Executive Officer. Planned, coordinated and supervised activities pertaining to organization, training and operations. Provided tactical and technical guidance to subordinates and professional support to both subordinates and superiors in the accomplishment of my duties.
• Assisted in planning and supporting missions for the Battalion Annual Training.
• Assisted my chain of command in assignments to successfully complete all missions.
• Served as Officer in Charge (OIC) or Range Safety Officer (RSO) for numerous training exercises to ensure unit’s safety and proficiency.

8/04 to 10/06 - Infantry Platoon Leader, US Army National Guard- Responsible for the training, accountability, health, welfare, mentoring and discipline of a 35 man Infantry Rifle Platoon. Responsible for ensuring the platoon’s readiness to deploy anywhere in the state within 24 hours, conduct Stability and Support Operations and future operations. Maintained and accounted for platoon weapons and equipment valued in excess of $500,000. Supervised and served as the principal commissioned officer in an Infantry Platoon; supervising the operations of an Infantry Rifle Platoon. Additional responsibilities included assisting Company Executive Officer.
• Guided and led platoon during multiple deployments in support of Hurricane Operations in 2004 and 2005, executing missions without incident.
• Selected to operate a platoon independent of Battalion during a Hurricane Deployment with a Florida Air National Guard Unit.
