The R&D Communication Advisor will be responsible for working directly with the Vice President of Organizational Development / Human Resources and the OD / HR Senior Leadership team and other OD / HR stakeholders in the delivery of a strategic communication plan designed to improve OD/R&D communications activities. The objectives are to improve OD/R&D communications, inter-team communications, community and corporate communications and to ensure that regional/remote employee requirements are considered.
ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Support OD / HR/ R&D stakeholders globally, including the OD/HR leadership and Business Partner team to understand requirements, focusing on identifying ways to improve communications within OD/R&D, globally. • Deliver an overall communication strategy for OD /HR/R&D o Conduct ongoing gap/needs analysis across OD/HR o Increase leadership team visibility and frequency of leadership team communications o Effectively communicate departmental objectives, roadmap and strategy o Facilitate the improvement of cross-functional team communications within OD/HR o Develop and maintain the central source for OD/HR team information (go/odteam) o Support the OD/HR leadership team, particularly the senior leadership team, with communications projects o Support Business Partner team communications activities by partnering to: • Improve their preparedness when communicating OD/HR initiatives to their organizational units • Provide communications consultation on key projects as required • Improve visibility for OD/HR into other RIM business units • Support efforts to increase the sense of community within OD/HR • Develop communication plans for OD /HR specific projects (re-orgs, leadership changes, etc…) • Support change management within communications • Ensure regional/remote employee requirements are considered when developing and delivering communications • As a member of the Internal Communications leadership team, support overall team initiatives • Lead OD/HR BCM communications initiatives, support the overall OD/HR BCM effort and serve as a key member of OD/HR Incident Management team • Partner with other team members to maximize communication plans for stakeholders • Facilitate and coordinate cross-functional team work with communications specialists in other areas of the RIM organization (for example: EMEA, Manufacturing, EBCM, etc…) • Additional project work, which would include: o Work with creative resources for support as required o Partner with external vendors and manage relationships and expectations as it relates to project requirements and scope of work o Track deliverables, milestones, and decisions made for request for changes o Communicate issues and facilitate discussion for resolutions Skills: • 7 to 10 years communications experience • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written • Extensive experience with employee/internal communications • Experience in developing and executing leadership communications • Ability to thrive under pressure and deliver communications within tight deadlines • Comfortable writing for, and to, a variety of stakeholders, groups and audiences • Comfortable speaking to small and large audiences • Experience coordinating small and large-scale employee events, such as all-hands meetings and meet-the-leadership-team sessions • Ability to grasp strategy and business issues - understand the big picture while working well with details • Ability to partner productively with multiple stakeholders and colleagues at various levels of seniority • Solid writing and editing skills with experience writing speaking notes for senior management, writing/editing newsletters, for the web, and preparing key messages • Able to handle multiple assignments, work independently, and coordinate with team members. • Exceptional oral and written communication skills • Strong work ethic and positive professional attitude • Desire to work in a growth organization that is experiencing a high level of change • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to ensure the delivery of timely information • Confident, self reliant, motivated, learns quickly and energetic • Experience with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Visio) • Experience with incident communications an asset
