General Machinist El Segundo, CA 2nd Shift This is a 7 month contract opportunity
This position requires the machinist to set up and operate all machine tools in the department as required, and the knowledge and capability of being able to layout and complete the machining of complicated parts from engineering drawings, sketches another visual aids on the M/C lathe with Acramatic 850 controller. This position also requires the knowledge and capability of operating machines such as lathes, mills, jigbores, grinders, MDI machines and NC mills. The General Machinist must determine machining methods, feed and speed rates, be able to hold exact tolerances to meet engineering drawing specifications, and be able to fabricate shop aid tooling and holding devices to meet task requirements. Shop math and precision part checking is required of this position. The machinist is required to maintain a neat and orderly work area which meets or exceeds all Company and environmental requirements.
Shop math and precision part checking as well as knowledge and capability of operating machines such as lathes/mills/jigbores/grinders/MDI machines and NC mills is required.
Requires the layout and complete machining of complicated parts from prints, sketches or verbal instructions for the N/C lathe with Acramatic 850 controller. Requires the setting up and operating of all basic machine tools as a normal work assignment. 1. Plans and determines the sequence of work operations and method to be used in the complete machining of complicated parts. 2. Lays out work for first operation and does progressive layout as the work advances. 3. Sets up completely and operates all basic machine tools such as milling machines, lathes, planers, jig borers, duplicating and profiling machines, precision grinders, boring mills, etc. Checks own machine set ups and parts run for conformance to blueprints specifications. 4. To determine set up and machining methods, machines, tooling and speeds and feeds to be used; set up, operate and adjust various machines to precision tolerance for any operation within their capacity; to layout any part for machining; to perform any bench necessary; to grind cutting tools; to use machinists hand tools and precision measuring instruments. 5. May make temporary tooling as required. Use shop mathematics including trigonometry.
