Job Description:
POSITION SUMMARY- Please contact sschut@rim.com The successful candidate will be responsible for the integration of processors in our silicon platform. This will involve being the technical point of contact with the supplier of the processor, tracking the issues raised during the integration and driving the resolution by working with the supplier's engineers and the platform hardware and software teams. RESPONSIBILITIES The successful candidate's responsibilities will include: • Being the technical point of contact for the processor with the platform teams responsible for the peripheral components, the SW teams porting the OS and developing the drivers, and the product design teams integrating our silicon platform • Hosting regular technical meeting and issuing minutes and actions • Tracking of the quantity of engineering samples required for each revision of the processor, and the Change Requests for new revisions • Configuring of the processor to attach given peripherals • Working with engineers interfacing peripheral components to the processor and auditing their design analysis (functional specs, connectivity, signal integrity and timing) • Participation to handheld prototype design reviews and to development of the verification plans (including hardware and software requirements for the test platform) ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent • 5+ years proven experience in an engineering design role, designing ASIC's or working with teams developing them • Experience bringing up microprocessors on test cards and troubleshooting design issues • Experience in high-volume product design and development • Experience with electrical hardware lab equipment (including oscilloscope, bus analyzers, spectrum analyzers, temperature chambers, voltmeters) • Self-starter • Detail-oriented • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to take initiative • Experience working with various engineering groups (hardware, software, factory, component qualification, etc.) and with external electronic components suppliers • Excellent verbal and written communication skills ADDITIONAL ASSETS • Mixed analog-digital electronics design experience is an asset
