Girls of Armenia Leadership Sports (GOALS) has requested the support of a Peace Corps Response Volunteer (PCRV) to serve as a Community Engagement Specialist. GOALS is rooted in the philosophy that sports can be used as a vehicle for transforming society and expanding the possibilities of their participants, and this project focuses on empowering girls in rural communities across Armenia through sports, creating not only avenues for physical activity but safe spaces for learning, promoting healthy living, and fostering empowerment. As GOALS progresses with their mission, they have identified a crucial gap in their expertise concerning community and parental engagement.

The PCRV will work closely with GOALS staff, leveraging their skills to bridge this gap and drive positive change within these rural communities. The PCRV will play a pivotal role in fostering understanding, cooperation, and active involvement from parents and the community, addressing societal barriers that hinder the participation of girls in sports. Working in tandem with the GOALS team, the PCRV will contribute to the creation of a robust parent and community engagement strategy and conduct training sessions for the GOALS team, equipping them with effective techniques and best practices for community and parental engagement.

Candidates selected for this position will be arriving in Armenia together as a group. While the whole group's departure dates could change, dates cannot be changed for individual candidates.

Required Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Youth Work, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Teaching, Human Resources, or related field.

• Experience facilitating Training of Trainers or other similar staff training

• Experience developing surveys, conducting analysis of data

• Experience preparing presentations and strategic guideline documents

• Experience working in rural communities, ability to quickly grasp local nuances

• Experience working with adult community members and engaging with parents
